Re: Cape Hatteras Wind Season?

I recommend anywhere at least 2km from Genie emoticon

There's lots of good places, depends on the wind direction and if you want ocean side waves or sound side flats.
A must have to bring is http://www.realwatersports.com/media/wysiwyg/cms/REAL-Riding-Map.jpg
You can pick up a copy at Real in Waves, gotta go there anyway to window shop.

If you want sound side, I like the Frisco turnout, lots of shallow water and tends to be less crowded than Kite Point. Kite Point is popular but can be a zoo. If wind is S, further up #12 there are lots of little turnouts and beaches.

If you want ocean side, I like it at the Friso pier (since our house is always on the beach there). Or up by Avon, you've got 100km of beach to choose your launch and landing spot. Just be sure always to watch for beach closed due to plover signs, it's a $500 fine if you're caught breaking the rules.

Another great resource is http://www.sbckiteboard.com/travel_article?news_id=100

Definitely have to do some downwinders while you're there.

Great thanks!

To avoid Genie I should make sure I kite at night or early morning with exposed wounds and flashy jewelry right?
