You can register now without paying, it helps the organizers. It's going to be an awesome event as there is a "non-production" class, meaning you can ride what ever board/kite you want.
For those that are interested, we can put together an email list for group training sessions (i.e. try out a few starts, rounding marks, big upwinds and downwinds).
For anyone who thinks they might be interested in racing, but doesn't really know too much about how it works (i.e the format of a race/rules/strategy), I'd be more than happy to share all that I know (my background is in sailboat racing).

How serious is the "non-production" class?
I am really interested in racing, but I don't own any kind of race board, just a twin tip and a wakeskate that I ride strapless. If I were to get a directional board with straps would that serve me well?
