Wind looks great for tomorrow! I just came in from walking the dogs on the lake... snow is perfect!

Going to try hitting Elevator Bay this afternoon (that's all I have time for in traveling distance) with NW 20-30 km winds. There is some crust there... but outside on rest of Lake Ontario and west towards Amherstview it's pretty glare ice... saw someone out skating last evening.

Re: Looking windy...

Yes indeed, 25 km NW winds gusting to 36 k & hard crust = FAST. Was out for about 1.5 hrs until my legs were jello.

Ice boaters were out from Kingston Yacht Club back and forth to Wolfe Island. Need more wet snow to bond to surface on most outside parts of lake... too much glare ice except for bays at the moment. Ice thickness is in great shape now for Kingston area (minus the ferry channel)

Re: Looking windy...

Westport was definitely worth the drive. As Rob said, good snow cover with the odd bare patch and some frozen snowmobile tracks. Wind was a little up and down but all in all a great morning. Can't beat a bluebird day like that...

Re: Looking windy...

Glad you enjoyed the day! Looks like I might have to go out and cut a few tracks in the new snow that's coming down with the 16 knots of wind. I'll be on the lake all afternoon if anyone wants to head up.

Re: Looking windy...

Ken and I had the lake to ourselves this morning for an awesome session! We went from Forresters upwind almost to Westport and back again. I think Ken said we covered 15 km and hit a top speed of 40km... best ride of the year for me - and the forecast for tomorrow is pretty much the same. If my legs recover, I'll be out in the morning if anyone wants to come up.
