If you head up to Westport in the near future and would like someone to split gas with I'm always up for the trip. Late Tuesday pm may be the best (lake will have time solidify and winds may not be so gusty... or later in week - Thursday or Friday. I will come up to Westport too sometime soon and try that... Big Rideau lake is sweet. I've only ventured out from Portland and it was fantastic. nondisclosed_email@example.com (grambo12)Mon, 11 Feb 2013 20:29:38 +0000 Re: Ice around Kingstonhttps://bkiteboardingkingston.runboard.com/p2627,from=rss#post2627https://bkiteboardingkingston.runboard.com/p2627,from=rss#post2627I have a 3M trainer that works great in high winds...LOL nondisclosed_email@example.com (Westyrob)Mon, 11 Feb 2013 20:15:34 +0000 Re: Ice around Kingstonhttps://bkiteboardingkingston.runboard.com/p2626,from=rss#post2626https://bkiteboardingkingston.runboard.com/p2626,from=rss#post262660 to 80 km west winds forecast for Tuesday . Wish I had something smaller than a 8.5 to fly. Looking at going out wednesday with 40 km westerlies predicted. nondisclosed_email@example.com (grambo12)Mon, 11 Feb 2013 13:39:18 +0000 Re: Ice around Kingstonhttps://bkiteboardingkingston.runboard.com/p2625,from=rss#post2625https://bkiteboardingkingston.runboard.com/p2625,from=rss#post2625Probably not today, but likely tomorrow. I'm up in Westport. I'm sure others will be there though - great wind. I just sprayed some glide wax on my skis... hopefully that will work.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Westyrob)Mon, 11 Feb 2013 13:11:51 +0000 Re: Ice around Kingstonhttps://bkiteboardingkingston.runboard.com/p2624,from=rss#post2624https://bkiteboardingkingston.runboard.com/p2624,from=rss#post2624Are you going out at elevator bay?nondisclosed_email@example.com (icarson)Mon, 11 Feb 2013 13:00:02 +0000 Re: Ice around Kingstonhttps://bkiteboardingkingston.runboard.com/p2623,from=rss#post2623https://bkiteboardingkingston.runboard.com/p2623,from=rss#post2623I just came in. Got all set up, skis on, 4.9 Flexifoil Blade rocketing skyward in 20 knot winds.... and I go nowhere! It was like my skis were welded to the snow. Too deep and wet. Before going out, better check the wax on your board and/or skis is good for this wet snow. I'm on my way out to pick some up now. Hopefully I'll get another shot at it after lunch.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Westyrob)Mon, 11 Feb 2013 12:43:49 +0000 Re: Ice around Kingstonhttps://bkiteboardingkingston.runboard.com/p2622,from=rss#post2622https://bkiteboardingkingston.runboard.com/p2622,from=rss#post2622Today is nice and breezy from the S SW. Is anyone thinking of heading out today?nondisclosed_email@example.com (icarson)Mon, 11 Feb 2013 12:24:40 +0000 Re: Ice around Kingstonhttps://bkiteboardingkingston.runboard.com/p2620,from=rss#post2620https://bkiteboardingkingston.runboard.com/p2620,from=rss#post2620I was out in elevator bay today (south of King St between Dupont Plant, condo breakwall and rock breakwall to the south. I put in about 6-7 bore holes in an x pattern across entire bay with a 6 " ice screw. Only hit water twice at about 4 inches. Ideally need about 2" min on skis... so thought it pretty good and decided to fly by 8.5 Concept Air SmartKite from for a while. Would not venture much further out on Ontario though until we get another week of cold I say.  The SE winds forecast today were too light in the great deep powder. Needed a 12 Kite I think. Nice to be out in the sunshine thought all afternoon. SmartKite I saw someone else flying a blue kite on north elevator bay (north of King St) mid afternoon. nondisclosed_email@example.com (grambo12)Sun, 10 Feb 2013 19:30:48 +0000 Ice around Kingstonhttps://bkiteboardingkingston.runboard.com/p2619,from=rss#post2619https://bkiteboardingkingston.runboard.com/p2619,from=rss#post2619Any word on ice conditions around Kingston? I'd imagine the ice north of elevator bay would still be sketchy? The snowfall earlier this week had water seeping through. What about colonel bye lake? If no one confirms safe ice by 7am, you'll find me in Westport!nondisclosed_email@example.com (ashley920)Fri, 08 Feb 2013 20:37:32 +0000
