Snow Kiting

Anyone out there know of a field that we could have access too, until the water starts to freeze? Anyone have any farmer friends they could ask? Just thinking slightly ahead I suppose. The snow outside has me a little inspired.

Re: Snow Kiting

Hey Ken,
maybe you guys have found a good field already and I know you've been out to Camden lake, but another potential spot is just at LeMoine Point. I've ridden there a bunch of times in past winters. They have a great field there with public access. And it is big enough that you could ride in most wind directions. I tried to google maps the access to Camden Lake with not much luck. Do you guys access via the north side of the lake (Lake road) or south side (moscow rd)?

Hey Paul,

We use moscow road to access the nature/bird reserve at the far east end of the lake. Take the Camden East exit from the 401 and drive north through Camden and take a right on Moscow road. I'll check how far you have to go on that road but basically you drive the full length of the lake and then take a left and another left then follow the road in to the public access point.

I'll post better directions soon.

Thanks for the tip on LeMoine Point. Never thought of that one!

Thanks for the hint about the point. I've considered riding that field before, but figured the wind could be a bit gusty and nutz. But hey if it worked for you, I'll happily give it a try. Maybe even today if we get some breeze.

Hi,
I live in Belleville and am looking for a snowkiting location. Is Camden lake useable yet? It sounds like someone has already been there.

I have gone twice in a field near my house, winds are too gusty, need a lake!

Re: Snow Kiting

Brent and Bri were up there last weekend, I saw the pictures from that day. Looked epic, they said it was perfect. Hopefully still is after the rains we had a couple of days ago. Maybe it's north enought that it got snow when we got rain. I might try to check it out on Sunday. It's supposed to be windy.

The weather on Sunday,(dec 16) sounds good for kiting but bad for driving. Does anyone want to travel in convoy to Camden Lake? I have room for 1 or 2 fellow kitters in my Hona civic if anyone needs a ride from kingston. contact me here or 613-549-1205.
