What's left this winter???
Anyone know of anything still snowcovered or frozen around Kingston? This winter has been weak!
Is Camden still solid?
Cheers
Mike

Re: What's left this winter???
Hey there Mike
Just follow Division St. north until you can't go any further... you'll see us out there kiting on skates! (Westport) LOL Ken is sharpening up his board for Wed. We were out on Loon lake yesterday morning.
Wolfe Lake, Upper Rideau and Newboro Lake are all excellent too! Come on up - I'll show you were all the easy access points are. And just so you know, we drilled some holes yesterday... 14" - 16" of ice. Trucks are driving on it, so its about as safe as it gets.

Re: What's left this winter???
Camden is still pretty solid. Had a look a week ago after two days of snowfall and it was solid ice with only a couple mm of snow cover. Skating conditions for sure.
Careful on ice. Just got a text from a buddy in Ottawa.. Some kiter was found unconscious on the river there. Broken collerbone in two places, bleed on the brain. No memory of what happened.
Ice is hard, and kites can whoop yo ass. Use caution, but by all means have at er.
That being said, I scarfed my first wave session of 2012 last fri. I have the outfit to handle the temps and it was really comfy at 3 degrees. No windburn to the facial bits. Still stoked. Spring it on!

Re: What's left this winter???
3 of us were out for a great 6.5 hour session in Westport today, and hitting it again tomorrow. We were sailing along at a pretty good clip with just trainer kites. I tried a 4.9 Blade and it got too fast even for me! The 8M Rise was nice though towards the end of the day when the wind calmed down abit. What an awesome day and it was great to have a couple of Kingstonians make the trip up! CYA tomorrow Rick!
