Looking for a lesson this weekend

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping to get into the sport after watching what looks like a lot of fun out on the water. I've been told that kingstonkiteboarding no longer gives lessons, and there are slim chances of finding an instructor in Kingston at all.

That being said, any chance there's someone out there willing to give an beginners lesson this weekend? Anywhere within an hour or so from Kingston would be great.

Thanks!

Re: Looking for a lesson this weekend

Hey, sorry there are no insturctors currently teaching round these parts that I know of. Best bet for that is one of the schools run out of the wasaga beach region. Google kiteboarding lessons and Ontario and you'll find something.

If your going the self tought route, the tried and true method around here is to pick up a trainer kite and get good at it. 15 hours min. Get ridiculously good at it if you can. Its not like a real kite, but can train a few handy reflexes. Then get a decent, recent model (nothing older than 3 years is a good rule of thumb) kite in the medium size range for your weight and learn to fly it in secluded, deserted fields with decent wind exposure. Another 15-20 hours of that and your ready to take it to the snow this winter. Spend a full winter dragging yourself around on a snowboard (dont forget the helmet) and as soon as your really profficient on snow your ready to try it out in the water. Start shallow and deserted and your on the right track. Good luck. Perservearance is the one trait everyone you see out there riding has in common.
