Royal Era

Love to hear what the new Royal Era owners have to say about their new kites. You must have had the chance to ride'em by now. Give us your thoughts. Stan? Brent?

Re: Royal Era

Hey Ken
Ya on Saturday I had the best session of the year for me on the new white era 12. I was actually getting freaked out in the time up there!
Win had the 10 out too and was very impressed.

It is a sick jumping weapon for sure. In fact it is so lifty I would hesitate to sell it to beginners at all. Too much bloody hangtime!!

On Sunday I was out in really low end stuff and I think the 12 will get the nod over my bfk18. That I need to test more but it is really close on the lowend. This is hard to believe i know!

Thanks for the response Stan. Kites have come along way haven't they? Who woulda thunk that a 12m could replace an 05 18m c in low end.

I should have the 12m nemi hp in some time next week. I'll have to come over to the island so we can compare'em.

Re: Royal Era

The kites are great.

This sport is definitely still seeing a lot of progression in gear. The 10 is pretty much a perfect fit for me (175-180) as a damn near one kite quiver. I'd guess at 14-30 knots of fun range with one board. Thats pretty phenomenal for one kite. Add a surfboard and your cruising in light wind.

Very good low end, logically very good lift too.
Super fast turning which can both get you into and out of trouble depending on your skill. Might not be a beginner kite as they are really responsive.

Relaunch is so easy I solo pop em up off the lawn at the PUC no weight required.

Basically all the fun I was having on the 9m waroo but in 4 knots less.

Have the 12 now and have seen the bottom end, but really eager to ride it with some juice. 12 is as big as someone my size would need with this kite. Basically as soon as its worth kiting its on with this kite. Fast enough that as soon as you can hold your ground you can boost nice little 10 footers.

The great kite speed means you can work em for power and they hold a lot more power through the turn than other SLE kites I've tried. All adding up to a lot more fun in the bottom end or the wind range.

The bar set up definitely caters to the experienced as its a pretty short throw. You gotta edge a bit to get all the depower, but you get about 80% with the bar alone. I like this, but it might feel a bit scary to those used to 100% from the bar alone. Wont see much poo stance from people on these kites as the throw is short enough to keep you from breaking at the waist.

All in all a great kite. Happy to hand off the 12 for demo to anyone not likely to put em on the rocks!

Later,

B
