New section.......safety?

I think we have a great resource here with this forum. I suggest another section about safety considerations.
From lifejackets, helmets, knives, launch sites and weather considerations etc there is a lot to share and discuss.

One thing I was thinking about is a friend of mine from Sarnia who was really hardcore and he died in Hatteras a few years ago kitelooping. He was knocked unconscious and that was it that as they say. The only thing that might have have saved him is a quick go get his head up out of the water. Sadly it took too long and it really wouldn't take long at all. No lifejacket or helmet anyone wears would help in that situation. The only solution is not take those risks or have a buddy to cover you in case you mess up like that. But even then it would be difficult to be fast enough. There are other stories out there too that you can share to help everyone consider !@#$ can happen.

I think this is a great idea! One thing I would add is practing pulling your safety so that it becomes reflexive, and giving yourself a refresher once in a while especially if you havn't had any close calls. It seems that when things go bad there is only a fraction of a second to react.

Great idea,
I've added a new forum called "Safety". It is in the list of KBK forums, or the direct URL is http://bkiteboardingkingston.runboard.com/f7

General safety stuff is useful, and also anything unique to Kingston would help newcomers. (like yes, that breakwall is made of rocks.)
